For just over two years, Ruth has been making vessels and bowls of varied shapes and sizes from papier mache.
It began with ‘tidying up’ her redundant management books when she stopped working as a headteacher. She states that “the eduspeak was recycled into pieces that reflected the colours and patterns of the North Norfolk landscape, just as my life was recycled into immersion in that landscape, walking, swimming and just being.”
Since then she has become increasingly interested in exploring the possibilities for papier mache as a medium. The process for her is linked to other processes in the natural world and to interaction with text.
Ruth also says that “It’s also just good to make something out of nothing!“
